Document:
To: Seaside Plantation Residents
From: Pat Garrigan, President Seaside Estates HOA
Subject: Seaside Plantation Petition to the Charleston
City Planning Commission
Dear
Neighbors,
As most of
you know, the undeveloped Freeman parcels within Seaside Plantation have been
listed for sale and we have seen surveying activity over the last few
months. All the Plantation HOA Boards
have been working together to prevent any development on these properties other
than single family homes consistent with our existing neighborhoods.
As a result,
our Charleston City Council Representative, Kathleen Wilson, sponsored an
ordinance calling for the rezoning of the Freeman parcels from Diverse
Residential (DR-6) which allows multifamily density (300-400 total apartments),
to Single Family Residential (SR-2). The
first reading of the ordinance was passed by a unanimous vote of the City
Council. This vote forwarded the
ordinance to the Charleston Planning Commission for a review and hearing on the
rezoning.
The hearing
is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
In preparation for the hearing, we need all Seaside Plantation residents
to indicate their support of the rezoning by signing our web based
petition. We will have significant
representation at the hearing as well.
